Midface Lift

The Midface Lift targets the aesthetic improvement of the areas between the eyes and the mouth, which over time may lose volume and contribute to an aged appearance.

In the midface region, the goal is to lift the cheeks, correct the nasolabial folds that deepen with age, and address wrinkles that appear at the corners of the mouth as a result of tissue laxity.

Basic Surgical Techniques

The Midface Lift is performed through very small incisions, made as discreetly as possible within the hairline, at the temple, and inside the mouth.

Alternatively, a Midface Lift can be performed through the lower blepharoplasty incision. This approach has the advantage of minimal incisions that become virtually invisible after about three months.

When performed through the blepharoplasty incision, the procedure is done under local anesthesia or a combination of sedation and local anesthesia, and no overnight stay in the clinic is required.

After the Procedure

It is important for the patient to sleep with the head elevated during the days following the procedure and to avoid any strenuous activity for up to two weeks. Some numbness may occur during the postoperative period, but it will resolve soon, along with swelling in the area, which may persist for some time.

The time required for the patient to resume social activities ranges from 10–15 days.

During the first few days, additional coverage with makeup may be needed. The final result becomes visible at around three months, once all postoperative swelling has fully subsided.

Combined Procedures

Often, a Chemical Peel can enhance the results by eliminating fine surface wrinkles around the mouth and other areas of the face.

The procedure is frequently combined with Blepharoplasty or Temporal (Temple) Lift.
